About Us

It all started with a desire to reduce my family's exposure to chemical stressors. I wanted to make a significant change in what we used everyday, switching wherever possible to healthier, more natural, 'simpler' skin care products and 'greener' foods.

As a family-run Canadian retailer with heart, we've brought together a vast selection of fine natural and/or organic beauty, skin, hair and personal care products specially suited for sensitive skin that are good for the whole family. From both large and small manufacturers, some are imported while others are locally handmade. Many of our products are made in Canada with locally sourced ingredients.

All of these products, in our opinion, are among some of the best of all natural, naturally preserved, synthetic chemical ingredient-free skin care products. We have taken into account such things as high quality ingredients listing; effectiveness; a variation of scents, and of course that the products are reasonably priced. We sample and use these products ourselves (and I have very sensitive skin), so we have a good idea of what we're offering - naturally sourced simple ingredients that work!

We want to feel good about what we use and we want you to feel good too! I hope this website proves to be useful in assisting you on your way to a 'greener', healthier, more natural existence.

Many people suffer from allergies and sensitivities, caused or at least aggravated by unnatural, synthetically produced additives and preservatives or chemicals in everything from skin care to the foods we eat and the air we breathe.

Our not so distant ancestors managed to concoct all sorts of natural recipes and remedies for treating skin and health ailments with locally grown herbs and wild plants. These were 'simpler' products prepared on an as needed and availability basis, so they were fresh and there was little to no waste. Quite a difference from products being produced en masse that are required to sit on shelves while waiting to be purchased, and then sit in our cupboards waiting to be used (because we tend to buy more than we need).

Chemical preservatives were not an issue then as they are now. Understandably, in order to provide for the masses, some form of preservation is required, which is why companies turned to synthetic chemically reproduced preservatives and ingredients that are less expensive to manufacture and available in massive quantities. Unfortunately, this has had a significantly negative impact on our health and our environment.

Fruits and vegetables are good for the body and skin. Some flower and plant oils and extracts have natural preserving abilities and also carry therapeutic or medicinal properties. Other harmless common household food items we use everyday can be beneficial when combined in 'recipes' for the skin and hair. You'll find a variation of these everyday foods in our vast selection of natural beauty aids and treatments, a.k.a. food for the skin!

We’ve amassed different natural ingredients products for you to choose from, with special consideration for those with sensitive skin and reactive bodies that just don't fair well with most of the commercially produced products found in stores.

Our skin is our largest organ, it protects and holds everything together in a nice, neat package. It also absorbs what we put on it, so we need to care for ourselves by eating healthy, fresh foods and using fresher, healthier products. We in turn care for our planet by reducing harmful ingredients being flushed into our watersystems and make good use of organic naturally sourced, bio-available and bio-degradable products.

With so many worthy causes in need of assistance, we want to share 2% of our sales proceeds. For 2009, we chose The United Way Worldwide and Care (poverty fighting work around the world). This was our first year in business on-line. It was a difficult year to be starting a new business, but with your help we have donated $50.00 to each cause! Thank you!

We've also donated another $50.00 to Doctors Without Borders (MSF Canada) to help support the aid being given to the people of Haiti. 

We are supporters as a family of CPAWS and Trout Unlimited Canada. This year we've also volunteered our time in assisting Trout Unlimited Canada with a local fish rescue! What a fantastic experience, learning new things, meeting wonderful people and doing good for the environment! In these difficult financial times, time is a valuable commodity and people can certainly use the help.
